On September 6th, 2003, Moscow received a very special birthday present: Gert Hof directed a major show on the Red Square for the municipality of Moscow. Hof obtained musical support from the Scorpions, Thomas Anders, and the Presidential Orchestra of Russian Federation. The trio Hof, Scorpions and Anders were the first Germans to be allowed to perform at the Red Square. Hof said: "Moscow, the Red Square, the Kremlin - heart of power, artery of the world. Myth and dream, vision and desire - my Mount Everest, my Northern Face, full of respect. Maybe for the tears of a lost revolution: a comradely salute to Vladimir Vysotsky, a shining star, high up in the sky, for all the people of Moscow." 200 lightning and stage technicians were busy in building the 60 meters long stage and in installing hundred 70.000 watt spotlights, approx. 10.000 neons, 2000 lightning systems and innumerable pyro effects and high altitude fireworks. A live audience of 500.000 saw the show. In addition, stations such as n-tv, Sat1, ORT1, 3Sat, ZDF, ZDF theater channel, Ren-TV, TVC, etc. broadcasted excerpts of the show. A.K.

Wir hatten von Gert Hof gehört, diesem aussergewöhnlichen Licht-Architekten, und von seinen spektakulären Events. Als das Angebot kam – Gert Hof & Red Square & die Scorpions – mussten wir nicht lange überlegen. Bei unserem ersten Zusammentreffen mit Gert fühlten wir, dass die Chemie total stimmt – hier die Rock 'N' Roller und da der "There's no Limit"-Ausnahmekünstler, der Licht atmet, fühlt und lebt – der die Scorpions, die viele grosse Shows in Moskau gemacht haben, mit diesem Event zu einem weiteren Höhepunkt führen sollte. Wenn man heute mit zeitlichem Abstand die Fotos und Filmaufnahmen betrachtet, muss man sagen, dass Gert Hof an jenem Abend mit einer perfekten Dramaturgie einen ganz besonderen Moment eingefangen hat. Endlose Lichtgitterformationen senkten sich über den Roten Platz, um am Ende den Kreml tiefrot einzutauchen. "Take me to the magic of the moment on a glory night ..." Als ich Wind Of Change mit einer rot brennenden Fackel in der Hand ankündigte und dann Tausende Fans auf dem Roten Platz, begleitet von einem gigantischen Feuerwerk, Zeile für Zeile mitsangen, hatte sicher nicht nur ich eine Gänsehaut.
